Engineer PEC Resume Template
Built for Pakistani engineers who need their PEC registration number visible at the top of the page. The layout borrows from engineering drawing practice: a title block in the top corner carrying your PEC number, location, status and revision, over a faint grid paper background. An employer verifying your registration finds the number where they would look on a drawing.
The sections are named the way engineering work is actually described: Technical Profile, Technical Proficiencies, Project Experience, Academic Qualifications, and Certifications and Memberships. Set in Helvetica with monospaced detail lines, in navy and blue with an orange accent.
Who this template is for
This template is designed for engineers whose registration and project record are the first things an employer checks. Pick this template if you are:
- A PEC registered engineer in any discipline: civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, software, electronics, industrial, mining, petroleum or metallurgy
- A graduate of UET Lahore, Taxila or Peshawar, NUST, GIKI, NED, Mehran, PIEAS, BUITEMS or another PEC accredited programme
- Applying to a consultancy, a contractor or a public sector organisation such as NESPAK, WAPDA, a power distribution company, SNGPL, SSGC, OGDCL or a development authority
- Applying to a private contractor or manufacturer such as Descon, FWO, NLC, K-Electric, Engro, Lucky Cement or a construction group
- A site engineer, design engineer, project engineer, QA or QC engineer, planning engineer or maintenance engineer
- An engineer applying to Gulf projects, where PEC registration and an attested degree are usually checked before an interview
- A recent engineering graduate who has just received a PEC registration number and wants it visible from the first line
Why this template works for engineering applications
The PEC number sits in the title block
Practising as an engineer in Pakistan requires PEC registration, and employers and clients verify it. The title block in the top corner carries the PEC number as a labelled field alongside location, status and revision, in the same place a drawing carries its reference data. It is the first thing on the page a reviewer can check.
The section is Project Experience, not Work Experience
Engineering careers are measured in projects, not job titles. A section headed Project Experience invites you to write the scope, the value, your discipline role and the outcome for each project, which is the information a hiring engineer actually needs to place your level.
Technical Proficiencies appears before experience
Engineering shortlists usually start from software and codes: AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Primavera P6, MATLAB, SolidWorks, ANSYS, PLC and SCADA platforms. Putting Technical Proficiencies in a grid above the project list lets a reviewer match your tool set to the role in seconds.
Certifications and Memberships is a single named section
PEC registration category, CPD records, safety cards and professional memberships belong together in one place. This section gives them a heading of their own rather than leaving them scattered through the experience entries.
A technical look that still prints cleanly
The grid paper background, the monospaced title block and the drawing style footer make the document look like it came from an engineering office. Underneath, it is a fixed A4 page with ordinary text headings, so it prints to PDF exactly as previewed and remains readable when parsed.

How to write a strong engineering CV using this template
An engineering CV is read by another engineer. Scope, scale and your specific role carry more weight than adjectives. Here is how to fill each section so a reviewer can place you accurately.
Write the PEC number in full, with the discipline prefix
Enter your registration exactly as PEC issues it, including the discipline prefix, and state your category and validity where the advertisement asks for it.
Describe each project by scope, value and your role
A project entry that names only the employer tells the reader nothing about what you did. Give the size of the work and the part you owned.
State your discipline role, not just the job title
"Project Engineer" means different work in design, execution and planning. Add the discipline and the stage so the reader knows which. "Project Engineer (electrical), commissioning stage" removes the guesswork.
List software with the version or the standard you worked to
Naming the code or standard alongside the tool carries far more weight than the tool alone.
Record CPD and safety certifications
PEC registration renewal is tied to continuing professional development, and site roles increasingly ask for documented safety training. List CPD activities, IOSH or OSHA training, and any professional memberships in Certifications and Memberships, with years.
If you are applying to the Gulf, say that your degree is attested
Gulf employers generally require an attested degree before a work visa is issued, and for Pakistani engineers the process runs through HEC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant embassy. One line stating that attestation is complete puts you weeks ahead of other candidates. For a Gulf specific layout with visa status and personal particulars, use the Gulf Professional template instead.
Frequently asked questions
What if I am not PEC registered yet?
The title block simply omits the PEC row and closes up, so the template still works. If your registration is in process, say so in Certifications and Memberships with the expected date rather than leaving the question unanswered.
Should an engineering CV include a photograph?
Optional for jobs inside Pakistan. The name block shows your initials in a styled panel when no photo is supplied, so the design does not look incomplete without one. For Gulf applications a photograph is normally expected.
How many projects should I list?
Enough to show range without repeating yourself. Four to six well written projects usually say more than twelve one line entries. Prioritise projects that match the scope of the role you are applying for, and keep the most recent first.
Should I include project values in rupees or dollars?
Use the currency the contract was actually in. If you are applying abroad and the figure is large, adding a rough equivalent in brackets saves the reader a conversion. Do not quote a value you cannot support if asked in an interview.
Is one page enough for an engineering CV?
Rarely. Two pages is standard once you have several projects, and senior engineers with a long project list often need three. Completeness of the project record matters more here than compression.
Does this template work for software engineers?
It does, and software engineering is a PEC discipline. Technical Proficiencies suits a stack listing well and Project Experience suits shipped products. If you are applying to product companies or startups rather than engineering firms, the Modern template may read better for that audience.
Will the grid background and title block cause problems in automated screening?
They are styling rather than structure. The headings are ordinary text and the layout is a single column, which is what parsers handle well. If you are applying mostly through large job portals, the ATS Friendly template remains the most conservative option.
