Fresh Graduate Resume Template

Fresh Graduate Resume Template · Built for your first job in Pakistan

Built for Pakistani students and recent graduates applying for a first job, an internship or a management trainee programme. The one problem every fresh graduate CV has is that the Experience section is nearly empty. This template solves it by putting Education first and giving your degree, CGPA and projects the space that a mid-career template hands to job history.

A clean single column A4 page in DM Sans and Space Grotesk, with a teal and coral banner across the top carrying your name, your target role, a Fresh Graduate badge with your CGPA, and your contact details as pills. Modern enough for a software house or an agency, still readable enough for a bank.

Who this template is for

This template is designed for Pakistani candidates who have finished studying and have little or no full time work history. Pick this template if you are:

  • A final year student or recent graduate from a Pakistani university such as Punjab University, NUST, FAST, COMSATS, UET, NED, IBA, GIKI, Bahria, Air University or a provincial general university
  • Applying to a management trainee or graduate programme at a bank, an FMCG, a telecom operator or a group of companies
  • Applying for an internship, a paid trainee position or a six month placement
  • Applying for your first role as an associate software engineer, junior analyst, trainee accountant, sales officer, lab technician or teaching assistant
  • A graduate with one or two internships and a final year project, but no full time employment yet
  • Applying through Rozee.pk, LinkedIn or a university career office
  • Someone whose CV currently looks thin because there is nothing to put under Experience
Once you have roughly two years of full time experience, move off this template. At that point recruiters want job history first and the Fresh Graduate badge starts working against you. The Modern or Classic template is the natural next step.

Why this template works for first job applications

Education sits above Experience, on purpose

Most CV templates put work history first, which is the worst possible order for a graduate. Here the order is About Me, then Education, then Skills and Tools, then Experience and Internships. Your strongest evidence appears in the top third of the page, and the section that is thin appears after the reader is already interested.

Your CGPA is in the header, not buried

The banner carries a Fresh Graduate badge with your CGPA beside it. In Pakistan many graduate programmes and trainee schemes screen on CGPA before anything else, and several set a published cut off. Putting it in the header means a recruiter can clear you in two seconds rather than scrolling to find it.

The section is called Experience and Internships

That wording matters. A section headed Experience invites the reader to notice that you have none. A section headed Experience and Internships tells them an internship belongs there, and lets you list a six week stint at a bank or a software house as what it is: relevant work.

Skills and Tools gets its own block above experience

For a first job, the named tools often decide the shortlist: Excel, Python, AutoCAD, SPSS, Figma, Tally, SAP. Placing Skills and Tools before Experience lets a recruiter match you to the role even when your work history is short.

Languages and Certifications share the bottom row

These two sit side by side at the foot of the page rather than running down it. A short course from Coursera, a DigiSkills certificate or an IELTS band fills the space usefully and keeps the page balanced instead of leaving white gaps.

How to write a strong fresh graduate CV using this template

A fresh graduate CV is not judged on how much you have done. It is judged on whether what you have done was real, specific and recent. Here is how to fill each section so it reads that way.

Write a summary about the job, not about yourself

Most graduate summaries describe a personality. Describe a fit instead.

Weak: "Hardworking and motivated fresh graduate seeking a challenging position in a reputable organisation where I can utilise my skills."
Strong: "BS Computer Science graduate from FAST Lahore, CGPA 3.42. Built a final year project in React and Node handling 1,200 test users. Six week internship at a Lahore software house working on production bug fixes. Applying for an associate software engineer role."

The second version names the degree, the institution, the CGPA, a real artefact, a real placement and the role being applied for. None of it is opinion.

Give your final year project the weight of a job

Your FYP is usually the largest piece of work you have completed. Write it with a scope, a tool set and an outcome, the way you would write a job.

"Final Year Project: attendance system using facial recognition, built with Python, OpenCV and MySQL in a team of four. Deployed for two departments and used by roughly 300 students for one semester. Responsible for the recognition module and database schema."

Write the CGPA the way your transcript writes it

Enter it as a value out of the scale, for example "3.42 / 4.00", and add your division for degrees that are graded that way. If your CGPA is below a programme's published cut off, leave the badge blank rather than rounding upward; transcripts are verified at the offer stage.

Count internships, semester projects and university roles as experience

A six week internship counts. So does a paid freelance project, a role in the university's ACM or IEEE chapter, a society event you ran, or a semester project with an external client. List them with dates and a one line outcome.

"Finance Intern, Meezan Bank Karachi, June to July 2026. Reconciled roughly 400 daily transaction entries and prepared the branch's weekly summary sheet under the operations manager."

Name tools by name

Write Excel, Power BI, Python, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SPSS, Tally, QuickBooks, Figma or SAP explicitly, and state your level honestly. "Proficient in MS Office" tells a recruiter nothing. "Excel including VLOOKUP and pivot tables; SPSS for coursework level statistical analysis" tells them what you can be given on day one.

Include short courses, but only real ones

A DigiSkills, Coursera or NAVTTC certificate is worth listing when it relates to the role. Give the provider and the year. Do not pad the section with three hour webinars; an experienced recruiter recognises filler immediately.

Frequently asked questions

I have no experience at all. Is this template still worth using?

Yes, and this is exactly the case it was built for. With Education, Skills and Tools, and a well written final year project ahead of the Experience section, the page reads as complete even when the Experience block only holds one internship or a university project.

Should I put a photo on it?

Optional, and the banner works with or without one. Many Pakistani employers are used to seeing a photo and some application portals ask for one. If you include it, use a plain background and formal clothing rather than a cropped social media picture.

What if my CGPA is low?

Leave the CGPA out of the badge and let your projects, internships and tools carry the application. Do not inflate it. Transcripts are verified before an offer is confirmed, and a mismatch at that stage costs the job outright.

How long should a fresh graduate CV be?

One page. With no full time history there is nothing that justifies a second, and a two page graduate CV usually means the writer has padded it. The template is built to fit a complete graduate profile onto a single A4 sheet.

Can I use this for a management trainee or MTO application?

Yes. Graduate and trainee programmes screen on degree, institution and CGPA first, and all three sit in the top third of this layout. Mirror the wording of the programme's advertisement in your job title line, for example "Management Trainee Officer" rather than "Fresh Graduate".

Will this pass an automated CV screen?

The layout is single column with ordinary text headings, which is what automated parsers handle best. If you are applying mainly through large job portals and want the safest possible structure, the ATS Friendly template strips the design back further.

When should I stop using this template?

Around two years of full time experience. At that point your job history is the strongest thing you have, and it should sit above Education. Move to the Modern or Classic template and reorder accordingly.
