Medical Doctor Resume Template
Built for Pakistani doctors. The page opens as a medical letterhead with an Rx mark, and your PMDC registration number sits in a stamp panel at the top right, labelled and marked as verified. Registration is the first thing a hospital HR department checks, and on most CVs it is a line somewhere in the middle of the page.
The sections follow clinical practice: Professional Summary, Clinical Experience, Medical Education, Clinical Skills and Expertise, Certifications and Training, and Languages. Medical blue on white, Georgia serif for the document furniture, with room for your photograph or a clean initials panel.
Who this template is for
This template is for registered medical practitioners and those completing registration. Pick this template if you are:
- An MBBS graduate applying for house job or internship placements
- A medical officer or senior medical officer applying to a private or government hospital
- A postgraduate trainee in an FCPS or MD programme, or applying for a training slot
- A consultant applying to AKUH, Shifa International, Indus Hospital, Liaquat National, PIMS, CMH or a teaching hospital
- A BDS graduate or dental practitioner, where registration and clinical record read the same way
- A doctor moving between government and private sector practice
- A physician applying abroad who needs a clean clinical CV before licensing documents are prepared
Why this template works for medical applications
PMDC registration is a stamp, not a line
Your registration number appears in a bordered panel at the top right, labelled PMDC REG. and marked verified. Hospital HR checks registration before anything else, and a number placed where it is expected removes a step from the process rather than adding one.
Clinical Experience comes before education
For a practising doctor, where you have worked and in which specialty matters more than which college you attended. The order reflects that. Medical Education follows, with room for MBBS, house job, and postgraduate training set out separately.
Clinical Skills and Expertise is its own section
Procedures, specialties and clinical competencies belong in a named block rather than scattered through job entries. A department head reading for a specific post can check capability without reconstructing it from your history.
A medical document, not a corporate one
The Rx letterhead, the blue palette and the serif document furniture make it read as a clinical record. The tone matters when the reader is a medical superintendent or a head of department rather than a corporate recruiter.
Photograph optional, handled either way
Pakistani hospital applications often expect a photograph, and the header shows one when you supply it and a styled initials panel when you do not. Neither looks like an omission.

How to write a strong medical CV using this template
A medical CV is read by clinicians. Case load, specialty exposure and procedural competence are what place you. Here is how to write each part.
Write registration and qualification in one line
Give case load and setting, not just the job title
Medical Officer means very different work in a rural health centre and in a tertiary care emergency department. Give the size of the hospital, the department and the volume you carried.
List procedures with numbers where you have them
Procedural competence is claimed often and evidenced rarely. Where you have logged numbers, use them.
Set out house job and postgraduate training separately
Write the house job with the rotations and their durations, and postgraduate training with the programme, the institution and your current stage. A reader placing you against a training post needs the stage, not just the enrolment.
Record certifications with issuing body and validity
ACLS, BLS, ATLS and similar courses are checked for expiry as well as existence. Give the issuing body and the month and year of expiry. An expired certification listed without a date reads as an oversight.
Explain a break in practice rather than leaving it
Gaps in clinical practice are noticed and matter more in medicine than in most fields, because currency of practice is a safety question. A short, factual line explaining research, family responsibilities, examination preparation or time abroad is far better than an unexplained year.
Frequently asked questions
What if my PMDC registration is still in process?
The stamp panel only appears when you supply a number, so the header stays clean without it. Say where you are in the process in Certifications and Training, with the expected date. Leaving the question unanswered is worse than answering it honestly.
Should a doctor's CV include a photograph?
For Pakistani hospital applications it is commonly expected. Use a formal photograph with a plain background. If you prefer not to, the header shows a styled initials panel instead, which reads as a design choice rather than something missing.
How long should a medical CV be?
Two pages for a medical officer, three or more for a consultant with publications, presentations and teaching responsibilities. Medicine expects a complete record, so do not cut training or certifications to save a page.
Where do publications and research go?
In Certifications and Training, listed with the journal and year. If you have a substantial publication record and are applying for an academic or teaching post, the Teacher Academic template gives publications a fuller section.
Does this template work for dentists?
Yes. BDS qualifications, dental registration and clinical procedures fit the same structure. Use Clinical Skills and Expertise for your procedural range.
Can I use this for applications abroad?
As a clinical CV it reads well in most markets. Licensing requirements differ by country and change over time, so confirm the current position for your destination. For Gulf applications where a photograph, nationality and visa status are expected, use the Gulf Professional template.
Can I use this for a government health department post?
Only if the advertisement does not require a prescribed format. Government files usually need CNIC, domicile, a declaration and a signature, none of which this template carries. Use the Government template for those applications.
